Why Choose RYOZAN PARK Montessori for Your Child
-
From the first day of class, we work to instill two primary values:
1. This is “our classroom,” and we must care for it just as we do our homes.
2. We are all friends and we help each other. At RYOZAN PARK Montessori, we celebrate diversity and inclusion in everything we do.
It is never too early to educate for empowerment. Graduates of our Montessori kindergarten show self-direction, independence, and a sense of responsibility for themselves, their peers, and their environment—all qualities that prepare them for the next stage of education, whether it be Japanese elementary or international school.
-
Montessori education focuses on unlocking a child's individual potential to lead a happy and fulfilled life.
Dr. Maria Montessori developed this method based on child development, aiming to educate the whole child in various areas.
The approach involves a triad of the child, the prepared adult, and the prepared environment, with carefully chosen materials to inspire self-construction.
Respect for the child's individual path is emphasized, with no grades or tests, and each child is supported based on their unique interests and development.
In our Montessori classroom, children are seen as confident, motivated, and curious individuals. -
RYOZAN PARK Montessori focuses on supporting spoken language development in their Montessori classroom, where the majority of students are English language learners with Japanese as their first language.
The classroom environment allows for individualized learning through one-on-one and small group work, with guides speaking English at all times to create an immersive experience. Language is incorporated naturally throughout the day, including during activities.
Monthly language extensions focus on topics of interest to children, such as animals and habitats, with related activities available for exploration. Singing, dancing, and reading are also integral parts of the classroom routine, providing opportunities for language development and engagement.

RYOZAN PARK Montessori?
Our children arrive between 8:30 and 9:00, entering a space where they have three hours of uninterrupted time for independent activities of their choice.
After lunch, we often head to the park or do outdoor activities. Some children leave by 2pm, but many stay for our after-school program, where they engage in English immersion activities, focusing on phonics, reading, writing, and conversation.

A Montessori work cycle is a period of uninterrupted time when your child works with the materials (activities) on the shelf. They themselves choose what they want to learn, how, and with whom. Children can work independently, in pairs or in large groups (with or without the teacher).
In a typical work cycle, children choose from the art shelf, the language shelf, the math shelf and the practical life shelf. We also do group work daily (either everyone together or in small groups) and sing, read stories, talk about our day, and discuss various topics based on the month’s theme. Our work cycle also includes science experiments, ‘Show and Tell Wednesdays’, and physical activities like dance and yoga.
-
We welcome office members, families, and staff of all ages and backgrounds, encouraging communication, collaboration, and friendship. We celebrate various local festivals and those from our students' home countries to appreciate and learn about different cultures and lifestyles.
-
Teachers speak in English, but children are free to communicate in their preferred language. If a child is upset or needs help, Japanese may be used to comfort or reassure them. Additionally, on Thursday afternoons, there are activities in Japanese, such as safety and food education, seasonal events, and Japanese culture.
